Sheffield Children’s Hospital

Sheffield Children’s Hospital has outpatient clinics and beds for medical and surgical patients are at the main hospital site near Sheffield city centre. They have intensive care and high dependency units to support their surgical and trauma services. They also have an Emergency Department.

The hospital Main Entrance on is on Clarkson Street. The Emergency Department is open every day via the entrance on Western Bank.

The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and provides care for children up to the age of 16.

The Becton Centre for Children and Young People is for children and young adults aged up to 18 with mental health issues and learning disabilities. The centre offers intensive outreach treatment, day and inpatient services.

Ryegate Children’s Centre

The Ryegate Children’s Centre sees children with a range of complex neurological disorders. The outpatients department holds specialist neurology and neurodisability clinics on a daily basis. The centre also offers respite care to children with neurological conditions in the Ryegate Respite unit which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Royal Hallamshire Hospital (RHH)

Royal Hallamshire Hospital is near Sheffield city centre. It has around 850 beds for the care of inpatients and a number of specialist outpatient clinics including a prosthetic eye department and specialist ophthalmology centre. It has a Minor Injuries Unit for people with small injuries that that can be treated without the need for emergency care.

Jessop Wing

The Jessop Wing opened in 2001 and is a purpose built maternity unit where approximately 6,400 babies are born every year. In addition to a 15-bed labour ward, four labour ward assessment rooms and a newly developed bereavement suite, there are two postnatal wards and one antenatal ward, an admission Triage area and an advanced obstetric care unit. One of the postnatal wards specialises in caring for women who have had a caesarean section.

The Jessop Fertility Centre is also based here.

Weston Park Cancer Centre

Weston Park Hospital provides specialist, non-surgical oncology services for people from the local area as well as regionally from South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire and is one of the four national specialist hospitals that is dedicated to cancer care. It provides two adult inpatient wards and a five-bedded teenage cancer unit for patients aged 16 to 25 years. There are 64 inpatient beds including the teenage cancer unit.

Montagu Hospital

Montagu Hospital is a small non-acute hospital with over 50 inpatient beds for people who need further rehabilitation before they can be discharged. There is a nurse-led minor injuries unit, open 9am to 9pm. It also has a day surgery unit, renal dialysis, a chronic pain management unit and a wide range of outpatient clinics. Montagu is the site of our Rehabilitation Centre, Clinical Simulation Centre and the base for the abdominal aortic aneurysm screening programme.
