Early Year’s settings and foundations stage one provisions in school can apply for funding to enhance staffing levels to be above Ofsted ratios to be able to meet the needs of children with identified SEND (two or more agencies involved).
Early years providers include:
- Day nursery
- Pre schools
- Children centre’s
- Nurseries in school
- Out of school clubs
Support for provision to facilitate/support access to the curriculum and to develop independent learning for children/young people with SEND.
This grant is used to enhance setting levels to above Ofsted ratios, this enables staff to support children to access all areas of the curriculum available.
Support given to aid provision at unstructured times of the day including personal care.
The grant is available to support children throughout the full time they spend at a setting.
Planning for, assessment of, and identification of children with SEND including thresholds.
Children access a child led planned curriculum within our early years settings, this is individually planned to each child. A child with SEND will be included within this planning which included activities to meet their individual needs around the child’s identified SEND.
Staff training for service provision to meet needs of children/young people with SEND.
Training is available to Early Years settings from Rotherham Early Years and wider services specialising in the area of SEND.
Liaison/communication with parents.
Early Years settings work to the guidance within the Early Years foundation stage which encourages the Early Year’s workforce to embed positive partnerships with parents and outside agencies.
Liaison/communication with children and young people.
Early Years settings work to the guidance within the Early Years foundation stage which is based on embedding positive relationships with all children within their care and use various methods to gain the views and feelings of young children.
Liaison/communication with other services/agencies Services.
Early Years settings have contact details of all outside agencies and have solid links with these agencies.
Service involvement in provision for medical needs.
Early Years provide funding to enable settings to access any medical training needed – Supporting pupils at school with medical conditions.
Service involvement in transition provision (all ages).
Settings implement transition documents, enhanced visits and transition books to enable a smooth transition into the next provision they are moving to. The Inclusion Support Grant helps to support this.
Service involvement in Post 16+ provision
Service involvement in transport provision (where applicable).
Settings will always meet the needs of children and will make any reasonable adjustments needed along with support from Early Year’s service.
